In line with its inorganic growth strategy, Mirplay, a leading company in the design and manufacture of professional furniture for industries such as hairdressing and education, has completed the acquisition of Carpyen, a historic Barcelona-based brand specializing in designer lighting. This transaction, led by Nexxus Iberia, strengthens Mirplay’s presence in the interior design sector and marks its entry into decorative lighting.
Established in 1948, Carpyen has established itself as a benchmark in designer lighting, offering high-quality products that include ceiling, table, floor, wall, and outdoor lamps. Currently, its products are sold in high-end stores and through custom projects in multiple countries, with a strong presence in Europe and North America. Through this operation, Mirplay and Carpyen will combine their strengths to drive the growth of both brands in domestic and international markets.
A consolidated commercial team and Mirplay’s operational expertise
Carpyen will continue to operate under the leadership of its current partners, Antony Motard and Jean Dominique Leze, who will retain a minority stake and continue to oversee commercial functions while staying attuned to market trends. Their knowledge and expertise in the sector have been fundamental to the brand’s positioning and expansion.
Mirplay’s expertise in process standardization, supply chain management, and logistical excellence—operating from its logistics center in Avinyó—will provide Carpyen with robust support in operational and strategic areas, aiming to boost the brand’s growth in key markets.
Carles Mir, CEO of Mirplay: “Integrating Carpyen reinforces our commitment to innovation and allows us to enter the decorative lighting sector. We are confident that, together with Antony and Jean Dominique, we will propel Carpyen to seize new opportunities in Europe and North America, leveraging significant commercial and operational synergies.”
Ramón Mir, Product Manager at Mirplay: “We are delighted to welcome Carpyen to the Mirplay family. This acquisition will bring ‘light’ to our path and strengthen our value proposition in the lighting sector.”
Jean Dominique Leze, partner at Carpyen: “We are very excited about this new chapter with Mirplay and Nexxus Iberia. We know that combining our expertise in the decorative lighting market with Mirplay’s growth approach and strategic support will allow us to evolve solidly and position ourselves as a benchmark brand in the sector.”
Mirplay was advised by S&E Partners, ILV Silver, and Grant Thornton in executing the transaction.
